Following the celebration of Art in Migration I, we invite you to Art in Migration II.
This event builds upon the theme of Black History Month Belgium: “ B(l)ack to Our Roots
”—a theme rich with layers of meaning. Together, we explore heritage, identity, diversity, and creativity through art and performance.
ART IN MIGRATION II
The evening opens with an exhibiton
on migration, identity, and connection, work of Axelle Hiskama and Laura Delhaye.
Tshimundu takes us on an intimate solo theater journey with Bruxelles, I Will Make You Mine. Set in a communal house (Commune), the play offers a profound look into the lives of African migrants who are ‘legal’ but still face barriers within the Belgian administration. It unveils the invisible burdens they carry—their frustrations, hopes, and their quest for identity in Brussels, a city shaped by migrants.
As the evening deepens, the atmosphere of our café will be transformed by the powerful words and rhythms of Ben Kamuntu. His unique vocal timbre and poetic pen take us on a journey through exile, Black identity, and resistance. He writes to remember, to resist, to celebrate vulnerability with strength, and to capture moments that would otherwise fade. Expect an immersive fusion of rhythm, melody, and spoken word, reaching straight to the heart.
